Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings are groups of enthusiasts getting together to discuss particular topics of interest such as 3D on Social Media, Virtual Reality, View-Master, 3D on phones and tablets, and stereo cards. SIGs are open to all registered attendees.
Wednesday July 15th
Stereoscopic Society of America SIG

Members of SSA participate in one or more stereo photo "folios." A traditional folio is a collection of stereo images (transparencies or prints) that circulates by mail among the members. Participants look forward with great anticipation to the arrival of the folio package—a box or envelope containing approximately 10-25 stereo photos made by other folio members. Participants comment on each photo, then send the folio on to the next participant on the folio membership list. This is a great opportunity to meet other stereo photographers, see their work, and get inspiration.
This SIG is an opportunity for members and all interested stereo photographers to discuss the SSA, and its folios.
APEC & DSEC SIG: Making and sharing printed stereoviews

APEC (Amateur Photographic Exchange Club) is a group of stereo photographers who make and exchange sets of stereoview cards with each other 4 times per year, and DSEC (Digital Stereoview Exchange Club) similarly exchanges unmounted 4x6 stereo prints. This meeting will include discussion of card-making art as well as techniques. There will also be card viewing opportunities with several different viewers to try, including some suitable for mailing to family and friends. Everyone is welcome to attend.

AI 3D SIG

Come join us to discuss AI assisted image and video 3D. This will be an open forum, with the goal of sharing what people are doing, what works (and what doesn't), techniques, ethics, legal stuff, and anything else. Please bring your ideas on any of this, and, if possible, examples to share (anaglyphs, lumepads, cross-eye or parallel phones / displays, etc.). Should be kind of wild.

Virtual Reality SIG

Virtual Reality headsets are simply the Digital Stereoscope of our age! We'll discuss the latest in the world of VR/XR/MR headsets and glasses, and how stereo photography fits in. We'll have headsets and gadgets and VR cameras on hand to demonstrate. If you own a headset, feel free to bring it to share with others!

MF-3D SIG: Medium format film-based stereo photography

This meeting will include hands-on displays of a variety of Medium Format film equipment. And as always, the highlight of 3D-con may be spending time viewing these amazing Medium Format slides in hand viewers. Bring MF slides to share if you have them, and do join us.

I manage the Stereoscopic Society of America print folio, while Lawrence Kaufman manages the realist format slide folio. We are always looking for new members to join us in the SSA.
Tom Dory has been an active 3D photographer for over 35 years as well as some vintage card collecting. His 3D shooting started with a Realist and Revere 33 moving on to the medium format Sputnik and 3D World cameras; with some side trips to the Nimslo 3D camera. His current camera is the Fujifilm W3 or Canon 5D for cha-cha images. He has been the NSA Southwest regional director for the past 9 years. He twice was the NSA convention chairman when the convention was held in Mesa, AZ. Tom is a past winner of the Tex Treadwell Award for Best of Show stereoscopic image. He won the SSA 2009 Best Presentation award. He is the past coordinator of the APEC III modern stereocard exchange group and still a member making card sets for the exchange. He now spends his time playing with mobile phones with stereoscopic displays and still shooting with the W3.
John is a retired professor of Atmospheric Science at CU Boulder. He first got interested in stereo photography and film-making in 1998 when his initial efforts focused on adventure sports like canyoneering, rock climbing, and white-water kayaking. He has worked on sub-microsecond flash photography of bullets and splashes, stereo-microscopy, motion-art of fractals, and time-lapse stereoscopic videos of the Milky Way and violent storms. His 3D films have won first place awards at several Stereoscopic Displays and Applications conventions, the LA3D and New Media film festivals, and many NSA 3D-Con Stereo Theater events. His most recent 3D interests are POV model railroad videography, filming restored full-size steam locomotives in action, maintaining and operating his own garden railroad, and playing around with AI generated images and videos for telling little stories in 3D.
Greg Perez has been an avid stereophotographer since he acquired a Stereo Realist camera in 1985.He has been a member of the Puget Sound Stereo Camera Club and the National Stereoscopic Association since 1988. He is currently serving as Vice President of the NSA and President of the Wichita Area Camera Club. He shoots in digital 3D and VR180.
Dave is a Philadelphia area-based stereographer, hacker, reverse engineer, and futurist. He grew up with a fascination for View-Masters, and rediscovered 3D in 2001 when he realized in a dream that digital stereo video was easily achievable. Dave probes the digital beyond through experimentation in VR/XR, volumetric displays, and photogrammetry.
3-D SPACE recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of the founding of the 3-D SPACE museum. With a number of goals for the museum's future, 3-D SPACE's collection and outreach continues to grow.
Andrea Shetley has over 50 years of 2D photography experience and has been photographing in 3D for over 25 years. She enjoys nature subjects, and especially close-up and macro.
Linda Nygren is a stereo photographer and collector of views, antique to contemporary. Since her first Stereo Realist some 40 years ago, she has continued with a variety of digital and film rigs (including MF), with an emphasis on nature and macro subjects. She also helps run the photo-3d forum, currently at photo-3d.groups.io, and related groups.
Bob Venezia is an award-winning stereo photographer and videographer whose work has been presented internationally. His time-lapse videos of carnival rides set to music bagged an artistic achievement award at the 2011 NSA, and his twin set of slow motion shorts secured the Paul Wing award at NSA 2025. He is recognized by PSA as a master photographer, but his buddy Bob Bloomberg is a master level 15 so don‘t get overly excited.
